Based on the response received at the end of the first International Conference on Discourse and Cultural Transformation (Oct 2004, Hangzhou), the scientific committee decided to formally establish the International Association for Multicultural Discourses (IAMD). The purpose of the association is to attract international scholars and graduate students in discourse studies and cultural studies, in their broadest sense, and to form an academic web-community and get actively involved in the multicultural politics of facilitating cultural solidarity and prosperity through dialogue, research, publication, conferences, teaching and learning (including e.g. PhD program and summer school). The association will also actively seek funding to aid scholars from developing countries and regions to participate in the activities organized by the Association.

Multicultural Discourses Series, Hong Kong University Press, Series Editors: Shi-xu & Doreen Wu, This book series publishes monographs and edited books in English that approach language, communication and discourse from multiculturalist perspectives. As editors, we welcome manuscripts that advocate cultural diversity and equality in everyday or scientific language and communication. Further, we make a point to enlisting writers of different colours and ethnicities and with diverse cultural intellectual backgrounds for the re-construction and transformation of the international field of discourse studies. In addition, we promote in the series proactive and creative modes of research that facilitate the intended cultural-politics of achieving cultural solidarity and prosperity through discourse research.Prospective authors may direct their enquiries to: xshi@zju.edu.cn  or ctdwu@polyu.edu.hk
